Hello and welcome back again to our series on automotive tools and how to guides for the brand new weekend warrior automobile mechanic. This isn't meant for the professional, but rather the typical Joe who is looking to obtain his hands a small dirty about the weekends. In the past, we have covered plenty of tools but in today's article I'm heading to cover what it is that your car's cooling program is design for.
If you've been pursuing together with my articles you must possess a fundamental knowing of how your engine works. It intakes oxygen and fuel at a mixture of almost 9,000lbs of oxygen per 1lb of fuel by volume, and compresses them inside the combustion chamber. At that point, Spark journey via your ignition coil, via the distributor, down the plug where to where it jumps the gap in between the spark plug electrodes and combustion results.
The combustion of the oxygen and fuel mixture inside your engine takes place at roughly 4500 degrees Fahrenheit. It's the task of your cooling program to carry those temperatures down below the boiling point as quickly as possible or engine failure would occur very quickly. To do this, your engine's drinking water pump pushes drinking water and coolant via the engine block and cylinder heads, out of hoses and in to the radiator. The radiator functions like a big heat sink to draw heat out of the drinking water and coolant prior to the now cool coolant and drinking water combination recirculate via the engine again. When you are parking at a stop light, there is no cool oxygen passing more than your radiator, so all motors possess a combination of one or two fans to cool the drinking water and coolant combination once the automobile isn't moving.
